Saving was always the easy part. DoubleMemory 3 is about coming back to what you saved: listening to it, stumbling on it again, and asking questions about it.

Watch the 90-second tour on YouTube. It reintroduces DoubleMemory’s core features.

What’s new in DoubleMemory 3

• List view. Use the grid to browse and the list to scan, with title, source, tags and date on one row. On Mac, iPhone, iPad and the web.

• Listen. Saved an article and never read it? Apple Intelligence adapts it for the ear, reads it aloud, then plays the next one in your queue. On Mac, iPhone and iPad.

• Discover. Hold to fly through a field of stars, then let go to land on something you saved and forgot about. Swipe up for the next item, or left to archive it. On iPhone and iPad.

• Ask AI from any item. Open the Ask AI menu on any item to send it to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Gemini with the prompt already written. On iPhone and iPad.

• Siri and Shortcuts. 13 Siri phrases to save, find and listen. Ask Memory answers questions about what you saved, worked out on your device. Every action works in the Shortcuts app too. See the phrases

Also in 3.0: reader mode, a redesigned capture sheet, and double ⇧ on the Mac to save selected text.

Give your agent a memory with dbm

Version 3.1 adds dbm, a command line for your Mac. It lets your local agents and scripts save, search, list, read, update and import items in your library, with JSON in and out. dbm never calls a model itself. Your library stays in your iCloud, and the agent that calls dbm does the thinking.

brew install idealistspace/tap/dbm

Open DoubleMemory once, then ask your agent something like “save this link to DoubleMemory tagged research” or “what did I save about onboarding last week?” More about dbm

Save with one click using PopClip

If you use PopClip on the Mac, there’s now a DoubleMemory extension. Select any text or link, click Save to DoubleMemory in the PopClip bar, and it’s saved in the background without pulling you away from what you’re reading. You can set a hashtag to add to everything it saves.

We’ve submitted the extension to the PopClip Extensions Directory, where it’s waiting for approval. In the meantime, you can install it from GitHub: download it, then double-click DoubleMemory.popclipext. PopClip will warn that the extension is unsigned. That’s expected for an extension installed by hand, and the directory version will be signed once it’s approved.

DoubleMemory on the web

Go to web.doublememory.com in any browser, including on Windows, Android and Linux, and sign in with your Apple Account. You can add, read and archive items there, and they go straight to the same iCloud library your apps use. There’s no new account to create.

A redesigned doublememory.com

We also redesigned doublememory.com. It now has:

• the full feature list

• the Siri phrases and dbm docs

• our essays and the newsletter archive

• import tools for Pocket, Readwise, Omnivore and mymind

• a changelog of every release

Your first year for $12.99, until October 14

On October 15, Plus goes from $17.99 to $29.99 a year for new subscribers in the US. Until then, use code DM3EARLY to get your first year of Plus for $12.99, about 28% off. Prices outside the US aren’t changing, and the code takes the same 28% or so off your local price.

Redeem DM3EARLY on the App Store, or tap Redeem Code on the upgrade screen in the app. The code works through October 14 for new subscribers and anyone whose subscription has ended, for the first 2,000 people.

Thank you for giving DoubleMemory more to remember.

- Saved Searches give you reusable, always-up-to-date views of the memories you care about, without sorting everything into folders.

- Auto Tags, powered by Apple Intelligence, which can be enabled individually for any saved search that can be used as tags, understand what you save and suggest useful tags automatically.

Together, they make organizing feel less like maintenance: Auto Tags add structure as you save, while Saved Searches turn that structure into useful collections.

Now, the latest update takes DoubleMemory v2 a step further. Until today, DoubleMemory helped you remember links and text. It can now remember images too.

You can quickly save an image from your clipboard or capture your latest iPhone screenshot. DoubleMemory runs OCR on the image, makes its text searchable, and uses that context to generate relevant Auto Tags with Apple Intelligence.

To celebrate the release, use promo code PHOTOMEMO35 to get a heavy discount off our Kindred Spirit Lifetime license.

Capture an image in seconds

Open the quick-add menu and choose Last Screenshot or Insert Clipboard. The image joins your other memories without interrupting what you are doing.

Search what is inside the image

After capture, DoubleMemory extracts text from the image with OCR. That text becomes searchable and helps Auto Tags understand what the image is about.

You can review the OCR text, edit the generated tags, or add your own from the Info panel. Saved Searches can also use those tags to place the image into the right collection automatically.

Images also support Apple’s Live Text recognition, so you can select and copy text directly from the image whenever you need it.

A few ways to use photographic memory

• Keep a visual library of design references, layouts, typography, and color.

• Save a temporary screenshot before closing a tab, message, or disappearing screen.

• Collect slides, diagrams, whiteboards, and passages for later research.

• Remember receipts, confirmation screens, tickets, and shipping details.

• Keep product ideas, recipes, places, books, and other things you want to revisit.

• Capture error messages or setup steps, then find them later by searching for the text inside the screenshot.

Photographic memory works on Mac too, with the image and its recognized text available together in the detail view.

Looking ahead

Apple previewed iOS 27 and macOS 27 at WWDC on June 8, 2026. The developer betas are available now, with public releases expected later this year.

An upcoming DoubleMemory release will require iOS or iPadOS 26 and later, or macOS 26 and later. Older operating systems will no longer receive new DoubleMemory versions after that update.

Moving the minimum version forward will let us take fuller advantage of modern Liquid Glass navigation, build a more immersive detail view on Mac, and adopt newer WebView APIs. It also lets us remove compatibility code, simplify the app, and improve reliability as DoubleMemory grows.

Help shape what comes next

Join the DoubleMemory Discord to share feature requests, tell us how you use the app, or let us know what is getting in your way. Your requests and conversations directly help us decide what to prioritize on the roadmap.

Thank you for giving DoubleMemory more to remember.

P.S. I also recently released a new version of ZenJournal, my chat-like micro-journaling app. If you want a private journal that feels more like sending yourself a message than writing a formal diary entry, it is built to be the simple, logical option: open, type, done. Try ZenJournal on the App Store.

If you’ve been following along, we’ve had a very quiet month in Nov in terms of new updates, but that was followed by a very frenzied the month before, right after our last post, when we introduced Saved Search, which feels like ages ago. To recap, here are the updates we made to the app:

• Liquid Glass on iOS / iPad / MacOS

• A redesigned and much-improved swipe-to-navigate bar on iOS and iPadOS.

• This bar will morph to a pill and can be docked on top or bottom of screen, so it doesn’t block anything below

• Much more control over “Sort By” on iOS and Mac:

• Much more control for double capture, to reduce conflicts with other apps.

• You can now import your Safari Reading List:

• Also On Mac: Batch select to tag. Batch select to drag and drop to other apps. Batch select to archive/unarchive/delete. Demo

• We also have a new Liquid Glass logo on both iOS and macOS.

On the business side, monthly revenue still hovers around $200, which is not great, but we will continue to experiment with pricing and new features (could use your help here).

Speaking of pricing and experiments, we decided to run our biggest discount EVER for the first year. Here are our Black Friday & Cyberweek deals:

• Kindred Spirit, our lifetime purchase, Original $59.99, has two deals that’s available RIGHT NOW:

  • For first time purchaser: $24.99: Deal Link

  • For those who supported us early and made a purchase previously 🙏🏼, it’s now $17.99: Deal Link

The following will go into effect from Nov 22:

• Monthly Plan: $3.99 → $1.99 for the first month

• Quarterly Plan: $7.99 → $2.99 for the first three months

• Annual Plan: $17.99 → $7.99 for the first year

All of these deals will expire at the end of Cyberweek.

Thank you all for your continued support, and for following along. You are welcome to join our Discord or DM so we can build DoubleMemory to meet your needs better.

I’m heading on a road trip to Arizona for Thanksgiving with family friends, and I’ll also be juggling a few other projects. So don’t expect any major updates just yet (unless I get unexpectedly productive over the holidays). But rest assured—DoubleMemory is still far from “done” in my eyes. As long as you keep sending in feature ideas and bug reports, I’ll keep improving it.

Btw, if you enjoy the app, the easiest way to support us is leaving a 5-star review. 🙏🏼

Happy Holidays!

Shao

I hope you had a great summer—I certainly did. We spent 40 days in China, traveling across a few cities and even visiting XiangXi (the inspiration for Avatar’s mountains). The internet was rough, but the break was good.

Before leaving, I hacked on a new Saved Search feature in Cursor. What started as a quick prototype turned into something I’ve been dogfooding for months—and now it’s ready for you to try.

Here’s why it matters: I had 1,200+ items piled up, and Saved Search changed the way I use DoubleMemory. It makes catching up far less overwhelming and, more importantly, reminded me that staying current is more valuable than endlessly digging through old piles.

Most bookmarking apps quietly encourage capture but not return. That’s why the gems you save often fade in relevance. Saved Search flips that dynamic. Now you can:

• Search by keyword or hashtag and pin those queries to a bar for one-tap access.

• Double-tap tags on cards to search instantly.

• Drag and drop to tag with ease.
It works on both iOS and Mac, and it’s surprisingly addictive.

This is only the first step in tackling information overload. Next up:

Better organization. With iOS 26 and macOS 26 introducing built-in on-device AI, we’ll finally be able to suggest tags offline—while keeping manual tagging in your control.

Better exploration. Lists are boring, and even grids are linear. I want DoubleMemory to surface items more playfully—through spatial layouts or serendipitous resurfacing—so it’s not just scrolling forever.

Better consumption. Unlike web-based read-later apps, DoubleMemory preserves the original webpage inside a native browser, with reader mode as an option. Soon, with system LLMs, we’ll be able to go further: turn your saved links into friendly summaries or even a personalized podcast digest.

On the business side: revenue sits around $200/month. I’ve poured hundreds of hours into this because I believe DoubleMemory offers something unique—but I’m still learning the marketing side.

To support continued development, I’m opening up a lifetime plan called Kindred Spirit. It’s for kindred spirits and early adopters like you who’d rather back the project once than stay on subscription. It’s discounted to $39.99 for this next couple of weeks before coming back to its planned price at $59.99. Hope you could take advantage of the option.

Thanks as always for following along. Take care!

— Shao

What a month! Just days after my last update, Pocket—the original read-it-later app—announced it’s shutting down. With Omnivore and UpNext gone, Instapaper back to indie status, and Matter trimming staff, the space feels shaky. But moments like this are why DoubleMemory exists.

Momentum in the spotlight

• I jumped into Reddit threads to champion local-first tools. (Your data, your device, no servers required.)

• My Show HN post hit the front page and stayed in the top 50 for three days—cue thousands of site visits, hundreds of new users, and $400 in revenue (up 8× from April’s $50).

Press & praise

TechCrunch, Lifehacker.ru, Bright.nl, and others listed DoubleMemory among the best Pocket alternatives—huge validation for our tiny community.

Community wins

• Discord and Support email saw a stream of newcomers. Thanks to Kairos, Simon, Dorothy, and everyone else filing bugs and ideas.

• Fixed: slow focus click, search dashboard not opening from Dock, and check out our dev logs.

• Always up for a 30-min chat—email hi@doublememory.com.

New: Apple Shortcuts

Two to start—Add to Memory and Find in Memory—now available on iOS & macOS. My favorite hack: set a double-back-tap to grab whatever’s on your clipboard (perfect for apps without Share Sheet). How-to guide.

Looking ahead

WWDC’s new Foundational Model Framework means on-device AI—ideal for the auto-tagging we’ve promised since day one. And yes, we’ll embrace that gorgeous “liquid glass” look.

Help us grow

We’re sitting at 3.5★ with just four reviews. A quick rating or comment is the easiest way to keep us moving. Leave a review →

Welcome, Pocket refugees—check out our new How to DoubleMemory and Troubleshooting docs, plus the Pocket importer.

Maker, DoubleMemory

DoubleMemory for iOS is now live on the App Store—thank you for making it happen!
Whether you squashed bugs in TestFlight or simply cheered from the sidelines, your support got us here.

A Tiny Snapshot 🪄

• 3 months since first launch → $50 MRR (100 % indie, $0 spent on ads)

• ~50 active devices happily clipping & saving

• 150 newsletter readers + 50 Discord teammates brainstorming features

• Reddit & Product Hunt launches earned ~150 upvotes each

Small, scrappy traction—exactly how great tools are born.

New Pricing & Launch Promo

We initially based pricing on Raindrop ($27 / yr) and Paste ($29.99 / yr), but Reddit feedback was clear—$25 felt steep. Here’s the revised, community‑driven offer:

• Intro price: $12.99 for the first year (renews at $17.99 / yr).

• Existing subscribers: The new price will apply automatically at your next renewal—no action needed.

• 3‑month free trial for everyone—even past subscribers.
  Redeem code DOUBLEIOSLAUNCH

If you’ve been curious—or on the fence—today is the perfect day to give DoubleMemory another spin.

What We’ve Learned So Far

1. People are attracted to our refreshing take on bookmarking/read‑later tools, but many are either a) hesitant to pay for this category or b) reluctant to change established workflows.

2. Leveling‑up marketing and positioning is my next growth edge—your shares & reviews help enormously.

3. Indie dev life is a roller‑coaster, yet 99 % of apps never reach paying users—your early support already puts us in the top 1 %.

4. The core feels solid; we have a great foundation, now it’s all about polish and power features.

What’s Next

Over the next couple of months I’m focused on smarter tagging—bulk tag edits, improved tagging related UIs, and Apple Shortcuts actions so you can clip and organize at lightning speed. Want early access? Stay in TestFlight, reply here, or hop into Discord.

The Vision

Become your default capture tool on Apple platforms, then go further—organize better, retrieve faster, and consume only the information that truly matters.

How You Can Help in 30 Seconds

1. Leave a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review on the App Store—it’s rocket fuel for visibility.

2. Share DoubleMemory with a friend drowning in open tabs.

3. Tell me the one feature that would make you use it daily.

Huge thanks for riding along—your feedback shapes every build.

Stay organized,
— Shao

Just wanted to drop a quick update and let you know that I’ve been busy working on DoubleMemory for iOS for the past two months. After finally resolving some performance bugs and syncing issues, I'm excited to invite you all in!

Please use this TestFlight Link to join. I’ll also start inviting people originally in the DoubleMemory Mac alpha → beta → and eventually everyone on TestFlight in coming weeks.

The sync will require the latest version of DoubleMemory for Mac, which is currently in App Store review (or available in TestFlight if you're still using that).

Here are four major features from the iOS version that will greatly expand DoubleMemory’s usefulness:

• A share extension that lets you easily collect links and text from all your iOS devices.

• A reading experience that feels more immersive and intimate.

• Spotlight integration that's finally useful, since it's often right at your fingertips (unlike the Mac version, which is usually below the fold or hidden altogether).

• A native new note editor that looks obvious in retrospect (as hinted by last post), DoubleMemory was to be your second brain, that’s not only readable and searchable, but also write and editable.

There are still some minor issues with performance when scrolling really fast or during searches, but it's already tremendously valuable. Personally, it has changed how I collect and consume information. By expanding DoubleMemory to mobile devices—which in my experience represent about 80% of information consumption—I’ve been dogfooding it heavily and have made real progress on my ever-growing read-later queue.

Aside from that, I'm also thinking about tags as I try to further tame this growing pile of links and texts.

As some of you have suggested, multiple item selection would be nice (so you can assign them all to one tag for example), and auto-tag generation will definitely be coming (Gemma 3 seems straightforward enough to integrate and runs offline). Tag auto suggestions as you type would also be nice. And of course, drag-n-drop tags onto items will make a great demo… (btw, have any of you tried drag-n-drop DoubleMemory items into other apps ever or vice-versa? if you haven’t, you should try it…)

The big question is still how all these pieces fit together. For example, as I was sketching out the obvious mockup above, I kept wondering:

• Where are these tags coming from?

• How should they be ordered?

• Can users define and influence how tags are auto-assigned?

• Should some tags be filters (like “All”, “Inbox”, “Archived”)?

Anyway, I'm sure the solution will eventually strike me—maybe in the middle of the night or during a shower. Right now, I honestly don't have the brain space to dive too deeply into these questions, as my current priority is launching the iOS app and promoting the app. Still, I genuinely look forward to hearing your feedback and ideas; they're exactly the signals I'm hoping to incorporate into the eventual solution.

I hope you're still finding DoubleMemory useful—if you do, please leave us a review, and if not, perhaps this update is a good reason to give it another try!

Cheers!

Shao

Hope you're seeing signs of Spring (or Autumn for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere). We've had two modestly successful launches on ProductHunt and r/macOS since my last update.

Here are two key takeaways: First, whenever I share DoubleMemory, people show genuine interest. Second, while we're offering a fresh approach to bookmarking & read-later, most people feel their current solution works well enough (they are not looking). This means we need to create more distinct features and build a more compelling product—and that's where I need your help!

Thank you to everyone who upvoted or commented! As we work to make development sustainable long-term, promoting the app remains a priority. One challenge we face is visibility on the App Store—we currently have no reviews. If DoubleMemory has been helpful to you, please consider leaving a review on the Mac App Store (Mac only).

Here's what's new in the latest DoubleMemory version, now available on the App Store:

1. We've rewritten the Double Copy detection logic to work smoothly with other clipboard managers. This should drastically cut down any conflicts or unintended captures when running with other clipboard managers.

2. We've added a menu bar option to pause Double Capture. If you're still experiencing conflicts or prefer alternative capture methods, you can now:

   1. Drag and drop any text or link into the dock icon, menu bar icon, or app itself

   2. Right click on any link or text and select Services → Keep in DoubleMemory

   3. Use Share Sheet → DoubleMemory

3. We've added a custom timing setting for double copy detection—you can now choose between 1-10 seconds instead of the fixed 5 seconds (thanks to the feedback from reddit launch above). This is particularly helpful for the Arc Browser Command Bar, which automatically triggers a clipboard copy when you paste into it. (I believe it’s a bug and beyond our control)

4. We've introduced a new "How to DoubleMemory" section to help new users get started. You should check it out as well…

Try out the new build and let us know if you spot any issues! Our next project is the iOS app. I've been having great conversations with some of you during user interviews—if you'd like to chat and get a sneak peek at the iOS app, send me an email or sign up here.

We'd love to hear what features would make DoubleMemory more valuable for you:

• Image with OCR

• Auto-tagging

• Native note editor (this will transform DoubleMemory into a card-based note taking app)

Feel free to send me an email at hi@doublememory.com or jump into our Discord server and I look forward to connect with you.

That’s why I’m still awake almost 1:30 a.m. on a school night. Got a few seconds for an upvote? I hope I can count on you.

For some updates since the last time we posted, I’ve been busy; here are some updates that are now in the latest DoubleMemory version.

TLDR: more capturing options (drag-n-drop, share sheet, services menu…), more responsive layout as you resize the main window, some bug fixes.

2025.2.21

• [x] Responsive card sizes when in smaller windows

2025.2.20

• [x] Added drag and drop to menu bar icon, dock icon, search view.

• [x] Added “Keep in DoubleMemory” Services menu item when right click a link or text.

• [x] We can also drag items from DoubleMemory out to other apps.

Because of the above feature, we are no longer allowing dragging by the whole window background, only the header or footer areas, as dragging will conflict with window dragging.

• [x] We will no longer automatically center the main window again if we toggle it on again, as some may want their window to stay on the side or bottom of screen. as a drop area

2025.2.13

• [x] Updated the accent color to be purple so it works on both light and dark theme

• [x] Fixed the menu icon on light menu bar not visible

• [x] Mac Share extension so it’s inclusive to mouse users

2025.2.4

• [x] Sometimes index will be lost, when user searched for something but couldn’t find it, offer an reindex button in empty state

Other than the above, I’ve also updated our website, again. Trained myself of the best practices of App Store screenshots, brushed off my Figma skills, and refreshed these screenshots, again. The launch on Reddit also got me reflect on our pricing strategy, which I will be working towards at some point in the future. A reminder, all existing features will be always free, DoubleMemory is basically a nudge-ware for now, no feature gating, just gentle nudge to update, if you choose to. More Pro exclusive features will be coming…

For those who haven’t archived this message already and cared to reach here, (understandable, who would care about a little new productivity app?) I’m excited to take this further. As mentioned in my PH launch post, I think we are just at the beginning; we just made some small progress on solving the “capturing” phase of information overload, the real prize is “retrieval” and “digesting”, I hope with your help, we can experiment with some radical ideas there.

But not before we ship the iOS version though, which, btw, is still recruiting interested users for interviews… I’ve had a couple only, but it was all so fun to chat (and meet some old/new friends). My goal is to collect as many snowflake use-cases as possible, so we can build a beautiful snowball that will fit most of our needs….

I’m thrilled to share that DoubleMemory has officially launched on the App Store and on r/macapps. It’s a special place where I found most of you, recruited TestFlight beta users, and watched new threads about clipboard managers or bookmark organizers posted every other week. Some of you followed the breadcrumbs into our Discord server, while others shared their feedback via emails & surveys and DMs, I really appreciate all of this, as it allowed me to iterate the app to it’s current form.

Since the last time we posted here, we’ve shipped a better menu bar icon with animation whenever an item was captured. We also shipped a minimal subscription button that allows users to support the app. But most excitingly, I’ll have an iOS TestFlight version available to share soon. Here is a sneak peek:

For those who’d like to drive the priorities here and want to jam with me about PKM and their workflows, please sign up for a 15- to 30-mins Google Meet chat with me.

We also shipped the third redesign of https://doublememory.com before the app even launched. I know… I should learn how to better prioritize. For the first time, I was able to add a manifesto section that spells out what DoubleMemory is. It still doesn’t feel good enough, but I’m reaching my skill limit for now.

Regarding shipping, I’d love to get your opinions on the top item on your list to help us prioritize.

I will be posting this same question regularly here and on our Discord, to get the latest pulse. If you have more than one, feel free to DM or share from Discord server.

For those who have reached here, I encourage you to sign up for the App Store version of DoubleMemory. And as a thank you, I have created two exclusive 3-month free promo codes for quarterly or annual subscription for all of you who were in the beta program. It will expire in a week. Feel free to share it too if you have friends and an audience who maybe interested in trying.

Finally, I want to speak about the business model, I’m a strong believer in subscription model. I believe an affordable subscription model will align best with the developer and current subscribers and protect against the treadmill of optimizing for the next cohort of new one-time purchasers. If the value is consistently delivered while continuously rewarding the developer, we will have a complete loop. Also, for frequent feedback submitters, I will send out more promo codes as a way to say thank you, as you are doing everyone a service by helping me improve the app.

As for me, I’m hoping to find validation among productivity enthusiasts to sustain the continued development of DoubleMemory. My next goal is to reach $100MRR from the current $0MRR and three months of time invested. If you are interested in how I’m doing and have recommendations, feel free to DM and I’d be eager to connect with you.

I hope you all had a chance to try the DoubleMemory beta build. If not, please read on, as there is a join link.

Roadmap for the App Launch

Private Alpha

We kicked off this phase about a month ago, shipping over 30 improvements. I won’t bore you with the full list, but know that we’ve been hard at work refining the experience.

Private Beta

Two weeks ago, we emailed everyone (about 60+) who filled out our survey. Since then, we’ve delivered even more improvements. Participants in these two private phases will receive a significant discount when the app officially launches.

Public Beta

We are opening up the waitlist now—this very newsletter—and inviting everyone, starting with Reddit, where it all began. Most of you should already be on the beta build, but I’m hoping to gather another round of subscribers to join the list so I can establish better communication.

Soft Launch

Once ready, we’ll release the app on the App Store and notify everyone subscribed to this newsletter.

I chose this traditional, staged rollout intentionally to gather maximum feedback and iterate quickly as our audience grows. Thank you to all these submitted suggestions and bug reports!

Today, I’m sharing the Public Beta TestFlight link with all survey respondents and newsletter subscribers:

Join the Public Beta

For those not interested in future updates, consider this a one-time email letting you know we’re ready for public beta. Feel free to unsubscribe after this message. Thank you for your support and feedback—it’s invaluable as we fine-tune the app.

Business Model Thoughts

I’ve been considering whether to adopt a subscription model or a one-time purchase. Many of you indicated a preference for one-time purchases or a freemium model.

While researching competitor apps you recommended, I noticed several offering one-time purchases but burdened with feature bloat, likely added to entice more buyers but never removed. This reminded me of Microsoft Office’s old days of feature overload.

One key reason for this bloat seems to be the need to introduce new features periodically to justify upgrades, distorting the relationship between developers and existing users, as new users get priority. I believe a subscription model better aligns developer incentives with ongoing user needs.

For example, I’d rather earn $30 annually from a satisfied user than $90 once, assuming a three-year lifetime value. A subscription model keeps developers motivated to maintain and improve the app continuously. Remember RoamResearch?

Therefore, I’m currently leaning toward a fair subscription model while rewarding early adopters who submit feedback with redemption codes and early subscription discounts. I’d love to hear your thoughts and inputs while we explore the best path here.

Current Beta Paywall Status

Some beta app builds may lack a subscribe button for now, but it will be present when we launch. The subscribe button will include minimal feature gating logic and a limited-time discounted subscription offer. Early subscribers can lock in the price and avoid future price increases.

One Thing that's Probably Useless but Fun

For a couple of days last week, this idea kept coming to me at night and throughout the day. I created this experimental interface. I'm not a Swift expert nor a motion designer, so the interface is arguably not shippable and probably never will be. But the idea is: what if every note is a card that floats in 3D space, where time is the third dimension? When dragging the scrollbar or scrolling, the cards move into the foreground until they fade away... Coming not too soon to a Vision Pro device near you. :D

Check out the 6-second demo here.

Bonus Content

I created this TikTok video for DoubleMemory yesterday. This is my first time promoting on TikTok using a cold account. There are currently zero views 😩, either because I don’t understand Tiktok algorithm or the account is flagged. I was hoping the TikTok algorithm would help, but maybe not... could use your boost. I'll continue experimenting with video content to reach more people.

What’s Next

I’m going to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon during Christmas break with family and friends. Wish me luck! After that, I’m hoping to spend more time focusing on promotion and launch. Building software alone is the easy part. The hard part is finding validation from a large group of users who also find value in it and can sustain the continued evolution of the software, with their support, emotionally or financially. All your attention, bug reports, idea suggestions are the biggest sources of support I’ve received so far. Thank you!

Have a Great Holiday Season!

I'll keep you updated about my adventure. Feel free to DM on social/Discord, or email. I'm always up to talk to a user and break through the fourth wall.

Confession

A few years ago, I set up a newsletter for another app I was working on. Truth be told, I’ve never actually posted anything to it. I keep telling myself I’ll start once I’ve pulled off the big revamp I’ve been dreaming about. So, here’s my assurance: I won’t spam you. I’ll only send something when there’s truly something to say—when laziness loses and inspiration wins.

Why a Newsletter?

Unlike traditional read-it-later apps that require account creation and server-based storage, DoubleMemory takes a different approach:

- We're offline-first with no user accounts

- Syncing happens through iCloud, managed by Apple

- We maintain zero direct user data

- Complete privacy by design

While we could automatically enroll users in email updates (that means we start taking your emails for no other reasons), we believe in giving you the choice. This newsletter is our opt-in channel for those who want to stay connected with DoubleMemory's journey.

Choosing Your Engagement Level

We offer multiple ways to connect:

- Discord: For real-time interaction and community discussions

- Newsletter: For thoughtful, in-depth updates at a manageable pace

- App Only: Use DoubleMemory without any additional commitment

What to Expect
